Appendix 5: InstaCal™

 

A/D setup using InstaCal™

Standard settings on A/D cards for NeuroComp software were as follows:

 

Voltage Range     +- 5 volts    

Channel mode     Single-ended    

Channels used     0 and 1    

DAC mode     Bipolar    

Clock speed     1 Mhz    

Base address     340 (hex)    

DMA     1    

IRQ     Programmable, usually 7 or 5    

 

To install InstaCal:

 

1. Insert EEGer CD. If menu does not automatically come up, select "My Computer" and click on the CD device.

 

2. Select "Additional Installations".

 

3. Select "Install InstaCal" option.

 

4. Follow directions for installation. Default settings are correct.

 

5. Start InstaCal (from the Measurement Computing group).

 

6. Delete (remove) the default board.

 

7. Select INSTALL and ADD BOARD.

 

8. Scroll down the ISA tab and select CIO-DAS1601/12 or CIO-DAS1602/12. (Some of you may actually have CIO-DAS16 boards!!).

 

9. Make sure the board is highlighted.

 

10. Select INSTALL and CONFIGURE.

 

11. Make sure to set in the values from the table above and click OK.

 

12. Click on TEST and ANALOG.

 

13. Select Signal Source EXTERNAL.

 

14. Unplug any electrodes on the amplifier and turn it on.

 

15. With the channel switch on CH 1 position, press and release the TEST button several times while observing the InstaCal test display. You should see a SMALL sine wave when the button is pressed and a flat line otherwise.
